Gautam Buddh Nagar, January 2, 2026:
In a major action against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minor minerals, the district administration of Gautam Buddh Nagar has intensified enforcement measures to curb such activities across the district. Acting on the directions of District Magistrate Medha Rupam and under the supervision of Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Atul Kumar, the Mining Department has been carrying out continuous and stringent action to ensure strict compliance with mining laws and environmental regulations.
District Mining Officer Utkarsh Tripathi informed that during the month of December 2025, the department conducted extensive checks and inspections in several areas including Jewar, Dadri, Dankaur and Kasna. During these operations, a total of 33 vehicles were found involved in the illegal transportation of minor minerals. All the vehicles were seized and detained at the concerned police stations as per prescribed procedures. As part of the enforcement action, a total penalty amounting to ₹12,39,730 was imposed on the violators, which has been recovered in accordance with the rules.
The administration has stated that the action was taken to prevent revenue loss to the government and to protect natural resources from unregulated and environmentally damaging extraction. Officials said illegal mining and transportation not only cause ecological harm but also pose serious risks to public safety and infrastructure, making strict monitoring essential.
Continuing the crackdown, a joint inspection was carried out on January 2, 2026, by the Deputy Collector of Gautam Buddh Nagar, the Tehsildar of Dadri, and the Mining Officer of Gautam Buddh Nagar. The inspection took place at a mining lease area located in village Raipur Khadar under Dadri tehsil of the district. During the inspection, evidence of illegal mining was found within the river’s water channel, which is strictly prohibited under existing mining and environmental laws.
Following the detection of violations, a penalty of ₹5 lakh was imposed as per rules. In addition, the process for registering a First Information Report (FIR) against those responsible for the illegal activity was initiated to ensure legal action and accountability. Officials confirmed that the matter is being pursued strictly in line with statutory provisions.
District authorities emphasized that the inspection was part of a broader strategy to strengthen ground-level enforcement and deter illegal mining practices. Regular monitoring of mining lease areas, riverbeds and transportation routes is being conducted to identify violations at an early stage and take swift action.
The administration reiterated that, as per the instructions of the District Magistrate, strict and continuous action against illegal mining and transportation will remain a top priority. Officials said that no leniency will be shown to those found violating mining regulations, and coordinated efforts will continue among the Mining Department, Revenue Department and local law enforcement agencies.
Senior officials also highlighted that public cooperation is crucial in the fight against illegal mining. Citizens have been urged to report any suspicious mining or transportation activities to the district administration so that timely action can be taken. The administration has assured that all complaints will be treated seriously and investigated promptly.
The district administration stated that such enforcement drives will continue in the coming days to ensure the protection of natural resources and to maintain law and order. By sustaining pressure on offenders, the authorities aim to send a clear message that illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals will not be tolerated under any circumstances in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
