Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Maharashtra today, where he will lay the foundation stone for the Vadhvan Port project, valued at approximately ₹76,000 crores, and address the Global Fintech Fest 2024 in Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his plans on social media, expressing his eagerness to engage with the people of Maharashtra and participate in significant events in Mumbai and Palghar.
The Prime Minister will begin his day at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024, held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Scheduled for 11 AM, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address will highlight India’s advancements in the fintech sector and the event’s role in showcasing these innovations. The GFF, organized jointly by the Payments Council of India, the National Payments Corporation of India, and the Fintech Convergence Council, features around 800 speakers from various sectors, including policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders. The conference will offer more than 350 sessions, unveiling over 20 thought leadership reports and white papers on fintech trends and developments.
Following the Mumbai engagement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Palghar around 1:30 PM to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several development projects. The Vadhvan Port project, one of India’s largest deepwater ports, is aimed at boosting maritime connectivity and strengthening India’s position as a global trade hub. The port is expected to accommodate large container vessels, enhance trade and economic growth, and create significant employment opportunities. The project emphasizes sustainable development practices, with a focus on minimizing environmental impact.
Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation for 218 fisheries projects worth around ₹1,560 crores. These initiatives aim to enhance the infrastructure and productivity of the fisheries sector, generating over five lakh jobs. The projects include the National Roll Out of Vessel Communication and Support System, costing around ₹360 crores, which will install 1 lakh transponders on fishing vessels to improve communication, safety, and rescue operations.
The Prime Minister will also oversee the development of fishing harbours and Integrated Aquaparks, and the adoption of advanced technologies like the Recirculatory Aquaculture System and Biofloc. These projects are set to provide essential infrastructure and high-quality inputs to boost fish production, enhance post-harvest management, and support sustainable livelihoods in the fisheries sector.
