On the auspicious occasion of the 2624th birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir, grand processions and religious celebrations were held across the country with great enthusiasm. In the same spirit, a devotional palki procession was organized at the Jain Temple in Sector 50, Noida, to mark the birth anniversary (Janma Kalyanak) of Lord Mahavir.
The event witnessed active participation from members of the Noida Jain community, who came together to celebrate the teachings and life of Lord Mahavir. Devotees dressed in traditional attire took part in the procession, singing bhajans and chanting religious hymns, creating a spiritual and festive atmosphere throughout the area.
Palki Procession and Religious Rituals
The grand palki yatra began from the Jain Temple in Sector 50 and passed through major routes of the area before returning to the temple premises. The procession carried an idol of Lord Mahavir, symbolizing reverence and devotion among the followers.
As the procession moved through the locality, it attracted attention from residents and passersby, who joined in or observed the celebrations. The entire atmosphere became vibrant and devotional, reflecting the deep faith and unity of the Jain community.
After the completion of the procession, a ceremonial abhishek (ritual bathing of the idol) of Lord Mahavir was performed at the temple, marking the culmination of the religious programme.
Message of Peace and Non-Violence
During the event, the teachings of Lord Mahavir—particularly the principles of non-violence (ahimsa), truth (satya), and the philosophy of “live and let live”—were highlighted and widely shared among the participants.
Speaking on the occasion, K.K. Jain, President of the World Jain Organization Noida, emphasized that the teachings of Lord Mahavir continue to hold great relevance in modern society. He stated that adopting values such as non-violence, compassion, sacrifice, and truth can lead to a more harmonious and balanced society.
He further noted that the principle of “live and let live” is not merely a philosophical idea but a way of life that promotes peace, coexistence, and mutual respect among individuals. He called upon everyone to follow the path shown by Lord Mahavir and work towards building a moral and compassionate society.
Community Participation
The programme saw the presence of several prominent members of the Jain community, including temple patron Dinesh Jain, President Pradeep Jain, along with Pankaj Jain, Rahul Jain, and Rajiv Jain. A large number of women, men, and children participated enthusiastically in the celebrations, reflecting strong community involvement.
The event served as an opportunity for people of all age groups to come together, celebrate their faith, and reaffirm their commitment to the teachings of Lord Mahavir.
