Gautam Buddh Nagar, 1 April 2026 –
In a proactive move to ensure the quality of services at Anganwadi centers, the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Sandhya Soni, conducted an unannounced inspection of multiple Anganwadi centers under the Dankaur Project Area today. The inspection included a close observation of ongoing Village Health, Sanitation, and Nutrition Day (VHSND) sessions and a review of the operational readiness of the centers.
During the inspection at the Anganwadi center in Dankaur Town, the CDPO found only one Anganwadi worker, Kushumlata, present at the center. The VHSND session was in progress; however, despite four units being functional at this center, only two assistants were present, and a mere two children were attending the session.

During the VHSND session, the assigned female community officer sensitized children about the Child Helpline, providing guidance on how to seek help in case of any emergency or personal issues. The children were encouraged to spread awareness among their peers and share their experiences, fostering a culture of early intervention and community vigilance.
However, the inspection revealed gaps in resource availability. Essential materials were insufficient, with only three to four types of materials present at the center. This lack of resources could hinder the delivery of critical early childhood services, nutrition programs, and educational activities for the beneficiaries.
Following this, CDPO Sandhya Soni visited other centers in the Dankaur Project Area, including those in Silarpur and Bhatta Parasoul, only to find that the centers were closed during the inspection hours. Additionally, it was noted that crucial registers, such as the PMMVY (Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana) register and the Nutrition Register, were missing across the inspected centers. Even at the Dankaur Town center where the VHSND session was ongoing, the beneficiary list was not available, highlighting lapses in record-keeping and administrative preparedness.

Recognizing the gaps,
the CDPO issued clear directives to the Anganwadi workers to regularly maintain all mandatory records and ensure that all necessary arrangements are fully in place during VHSND sessions. This includes the availability of educational materials, nutrition supplies, and health monitoring tools, ensuring that every beneficiary receives the intended services effectively.
The inspection also underscored the importance of compliance and accountability at all Anganwadi centers in the Dankaur project area. By addressing staff shortages, improving resource availability, and maintaining proper documentation, the administration aims to enhance the quality and reach of services provided to children and women under various government schemes.
The initiative reflects the ongoing efforts of the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration to strengthen early childhood development, maternal health, and nutrition programs. By conducting surprise inspections, the CDPO intends to identify operational bottlenecks, improve staff performance, and ensure that public services meet the required standards.
In conclusion, this inspection highlights the critical role of Anganwadi centers in delivering essential services to the most vulnerable sections of society. The directives issued to the staff are expected to improve operational efficiency and accountability. Regular oversight, timely monitoring, and active community engagement are key to achieving the goals of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), ensuring that children and mothers receive quality care, nutrition, and education in a structured and reliable manner.
Through such proactive measures, Gautam Buddh Nagar continues to reinforce its commitment to child welfare, health, and holistic development, ensuring that every Anganwadi center functions effectively and provides the maximum benefit to its beneficiaries.
