Noida, December 17, 2025:
The Noida Authority has taken strict action against Newtech Infrabuild Pvt. Ltd., the developer of Street 76 Shopping Complex in Sector-76, Noida, following repeated violations of environmental and wastewater management norms. The move comes after inspections revealed that untreated sewage from the complex was being discharged directly into the adjacent drainage system, posing risks to groundwater and public health.
The issue was first identified during a field inspection conducted by the Authority’s Environment Cell on October 30, 2025, and again confirmed during a follow-up inspection on December 10, 2025. Observations showed that the complex was bypassing its sewage treatment system, discharging untreated effluent directly into the local drain. This practice violates environmental regulations, including the Water Act 1974, Air Act 1981, and Solid Waste Management Rules 2000 and 2016, as well as the National Green Tribunal’s guidelines.
In response, the Noida Authority imposed a penalty of ₹20,85,000 on the developer. The fine was calculated based on daily violations from October 21, 2024, to December 10, 2025, at a rate of ₹5,000 per day, along with an additional ₹10,000 for the first day of non-compliance. The penalty has been communicated to the Regional Officer of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) for further action.
Despite earlier notices and reminders, the developer continued to discharge untreated sewage, prompting the Authority to request the Sector-113 Police Station to register a First Information Report (FIR) under relevant environmental laws. The FIR seeks immediate legal action to prevent further pollution and protect public health.
The Authority has also circulated details of the violations and enforcement actions to senior officials, including the Chief Executive Officer, Additional CEO, General Managers of Water, Planning, and Public Health departments, and the Environment Cell, ensuring coordinated monitoring and action. Residents of the complex, including Anoop Maheshwari of Aditya Celebrity Homes, have also been kept informed.
During inspections, it was observed that freshwater was being withdrawn from a borewell, stored in four tanks of 5,000 liters each, and no NOC from the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) was provided. Untreated sewage was being discharged via a cotton canvas hose pipe directly into the Noida drain in front of the complex, further highlighting the environmental risks posed by the ongoing non-compliance.
The senior management of the Noida Authority emphasized, “Continuous discharge of untreated sewage not only contaminates groundwater but also undermines public health and infrastructure. Immediate enforcement action, including FIR registration, is necessary to ensure compliance with environmental norms and prevent further violations.”
This action reflects the Noida Authority’s proactive approach to environmental protection, emphasizing strict enforcement of legal provisions, safeguarding public health, and maintaining sustainable urban infrastructure. By holding developers accountable for wastewater management violations, the Authority aims to ensure a cleaner, safer, and more environmentally compliant Noida.
