New Delhi
The Minister for Social Welfare, SC/ST/OBC Welfare, Cooperation and Elections, and In-charge Minister of North West Delhi, Ravinder Indraj Singh, on Thursday asserted that no compromise would be made on the quality of development works and strict action would be taken against officials and agencies failing to complete projects within the prescribed timelines.

Speaking during an extensive public outreach programme across several localities in North West Delhi, the Minister emphasized that ensuring timely, transparent and quality-driven development remains a top priority of the Delhi government. He stated that all dilapidated water supply and sewer lines in the region would be replaced to address long-standing civic issues and improve basic infrastructure.

Interacting directly with residents, Ravinder Indraj also directed officials to ensure that no water or sewer connections are granted without approved building plans. He underlined that adherence to building regulations is essential for planned urban development and the smooth functioning of civic services.

As part of the outreach exercise, the Minister visited Deep Vihar, Begumpur, Barwala Road, Rajiv Nagar, Rajiv Nagar Extension, Pappu Colony, Krishna Colony, Shiv Vihar and Shahbad Dairy. During his visits, he held detailed interactions with local residents, listened to their grievances and issued immediate instructions to concerned officials for prompt resolution of issues raised on the spot.

Residents from various areas brought to the Minister’s attention a range of civic problems, including poor condition of roads and internal lanes, irregular water supply, inadequate cleaning of drains and frequent sewer overflows. In several locations, people also highlighted the recurring problem of waterlogging during the monsoon season, which causes inconvenience and health risks for residents.

Taking serious note of these concerns, Ravinder Indraj instructed officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Delhi Jal Board, Public Works Department and the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, who were present during the outreach programme, to ensure coordinated and time-bound action. He stressed that all complaints must be addressed in a transparent manner, with a strong focus on quality so that issues are resolved permanently rather than temporarily.

The Minister stated that, in line with the directions of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, officials are required to conduct regular field inspections in their respective jurisdictions, closely monitor the quality of ongoing development works and maintain continuous engagement with local residents. He reviewed the deadlines of various ongoing projects and made it clear that accountability would be fixed in cases of delay, negligence or substandard execution.

Ravinder Indraj further said that such public outreach programmes would be conducted on a regular basis to ensure direct communication between the administration and citizens. He added that compliance with the directions issued during these visits would be continuously reviewed, and follow-up action would be monitored to ensure effective implementation on the ground.

Highlighting the broader vision of the Delhi government, the Minister said the objective is to ensure that every colony is equipped with strong and reliable basic infrastructure, including well-built roads, efficient sewerage systems, uninterrupted water supply, proper sanitation and adequate street lighting. He noted that access to these essential services is crucial for enabling citizens to live with dignity and security.

Reiterating his commitment to the comprehensive development of North West Delhi, Ravinder Indraj said that improving civic infrastructure and addressing public grievances remain his foremost priorities. He stressed that the government is determined to work in close partnership with citizens to resolve long-pending issues and improve overall quality of life.

The Minister concluded by stating that the Government of Delhi is fully committed to achieving the vision of a Developed Delhi and will continue to pursue development-oriented, people-centric governance across all regions of the national capital.
