Thousands of farmers in the district have been facing prolonged hardship due to two major unresolved issues for several years. The first relates to the non-revision of land acquisition compensation for a long time, and the second concerns the failure to allot six percent residential plots to farmers even years after land acquisition. Addressing these concerns, MLA Tejpal Nagar held a special meeting with the Chief Minister in Lucknow and presented farmers’ grievances in detail.
In the memorandum submitted, the MLA highlighted that large-scale land acquisition in the district began in 1997. As per the rules in force at that time, farmers whose land was acquired were entitled to compensation along with six percent residential plot allotment. However, despite the passage of several decades, thousands of farmers are yet to receive these plots.
The MLA further pointed out that compensation rates have not been revised for a long period. Rising inflation, increased agricultural input costs, and growing household expenses have made stagnant compensation a serious financial burden for farmers, leading to widespread dissatisfaction.
Farmers’ organizations have repeatedly staged protests, demonstrations, and submitted memorandums to authorities demanding resolution. Despite continuous efforts, a permanent solution has remained elusive. In this context, the MLA urged the Chief Minister to take decisive steps in farmers’ interests.
He also requested the government to fix a clear timeline for six percent plot allotment, ensuring transparency and timely disposal of pending cases. According to the MLA, such measures would strengthen farmers’ trust in governance and administration.
The Chief Minister listened carefully to the issues raised and assured that the government would take concrete steps regarding compensation enhancement and six percent residential plot allotment. He indicated that a positive decision could be expected soon.
MLA Tejpal Nagar stated that the assurance has renewed hope among farmers and that the state government is committed to safeguarding their interests. Senior political leaders were also present during the meeting and expressed confidence in an early resolution.
If implemented, these measures are expected to bring significant relief to thousands of farmer families, offering long-awaited economic and social security.
