Additional Labour Commissioner of Gautam Buddh Nagar Rakesh Dwivedi informed that Atal Residential Schools operated by the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board provide free education to children of registered construction workers.
Students studying in these schools receive free education from class 6 to class 12. The initiative aims to ensure quality education for children from economically weaker families, particularly those belonging to construction worker households.
The schools also provide educational opportunities to children who lost their parents during the Covid-19 pandemic as well as those eligible under the Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana (General).
As part of the admission process, a divisional entrance examination for admission to classes 6 and 9 was conducted on 08 March 2026 in village Kaundu of Sikandrabad tehsil in Bulandshahr district under the Meerut division.
From Gautam Buddh Nagar district, a total of 253 applications were received from children of registered construction workers seeking admission to Atal Residential Schools.
For the examination, Government Girls Inter College located in Hoshiarpur Sector 51 Noida was designated as the examination center for candidates from Gautam Buddh Nagar. At this center, a total of 222 students appeared for the examination, resulting in an overall attendance of 88 percent.
The examination was conducted peacefully under the supervision of the district administration and the labour department. Necessary arrangements were made at the examination center to ensure that students faced no inconvenience during the process.
Chief Development Officer Dr. Shivakant Dwivedi, Additional Labour Commissioner Rakesh Dwivedi, District Inspector of Schools Rajesh Kumar Singh, Assistant Labour Commissioner Dr. Suresh Pal Singh, and school principal Deepa Bhati were present at the examination center along with other departmental officials and staff.
The officials inspected the examination arrangements and interacted with the students to gather feedback about the exam process. They encouraged the students and wished them success in their academic future.
Proper arrangements for light refreshments and drinking water were also made for the students during the examination period to ensure their comfort.
The examination began at 11:00 am and concluded peacefully at 1:30 pm. The successful conduct of the exam was ensured through coordinated efforts by the district administration and the labour department.
Atal Residential Schools aim to provide quality education to children from labour families and help them build a brighter future. Through this initiative, the government seeks to provide equal educational opportunities to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
