Mumbai, 07 September (HS): Manoj Jarange, who is on hunger strike for the demand of Maratha reservation, has demanded a change in the mandate issued by the state government. Manoj Jarange said on Thursday that the hunger strike movement will continue until the state government changes the mandate.
Manoj Jarange said that in the mandate issued by the state government, it has been said that Kunbi certificates will be given after looking at Nizam’s genealogy documents, but most of the people of Maratha society do not have Nizam’s genealogy documents. Due to this, the Maratha society will not get any benefit from the mandate of the state government. Manoj Jarange said that the state government should use all Maratha words instead of Nizam’s genealogy documents. This will solve the problem of Maratha society. Manoj Jarange said that his hunger strike movement is going on peacefully. They are ready to wait for two more days. First the government changes the mandate, only then they will withdraw their hunger strike movement.
On Wednesday, the Chief Minister had taken the decision to give Kunbi certificate to the Maratha community after seeing the Nizam’s genealogy document in the cabinet meeting. Even at that time Jarange Patil had said that he would take a decision only after seeing the mandate. Today Manoj Jarange has demanded change in this mandate.
