Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have been put on high alert following intelligence reports suggesting that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is planning fresh attacks in the region. The reports indicate that the ISI, along with terrorist organizations, is acting out of frustration over two recent incidents in Pakistan.
According to sources, the intelligence input highlights the possibility of lone-wolf and hit-and-run attacks targeting security personnel. The alert was issued to CRPF, BSF, and other forces, urging them to remain vigilant. The incidents that have escalated tensions include an ambush on a Pakistani military convoy in Noshki, Balochistan, claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). The BLA reported a higher death toll than the Pakistani authorities, stating that the attack involved a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) followed by gunfire.
Another key incident contributing to the heightened security concerns is the killing of Abu Qatal, a major operative of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), who was shot dead in Pakistan on March 15, 2025, by unidentified assailants. Abu Qatal had been the primary handler of attacks in the Poonch-Rajouri region. Intelligence agencies believe these events may significantly impact the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
In response, officials have expressed concerns that the ISI, in an attempt to mask its frustration, may attempt to target the Kashmir Valley. As a precautionary measure, security forces have been instructed to remain alert and take all necessary steps to prevent any potential attacks. The security of high-value targets, critical infrastructure, and areas under the protection of the CRPF will be reinforced. Proactive and preventive measures will be implemented with close supervision at every level to counter any potential threats.
