Noida | March 2026 — The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at IMS Noida, Sector 62, organised a two-day workshop on “Changing Dynamics of Media” to help students understand the evolving landscape of the media industry. The workshop aimed to equip students with knowledge about emerging trends, technological advancements, and the skills required to succeed in modern journalism.
Senior professors from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi participated in the workshop and shared valuable insights with students. They emphasized that the media industry is undergoing rapid transformation, driven by digital platforms, data, and advanced technologies, making it essential for students to stay updated.
On the first day, Professor Pramod Kumar, Head of the Strategic Communication Department at IIMC, addressed the students. He spoke about the rapid changes taking place in journalism and stressed the importance of adapting to these changes. He encouraged students to adopt solution-oriented journalism, explaining that modern journalism should not only focus on highlighting problems but also provide constructive solutions.
He explained that positive and responsible journalism can play a significant role in bringing social change. Through real-life examples, students were guided on how journalism can contribute to both awareness and problem-solving in society.
On the second day, former IIMC professor and media advisor to the Uttarakhand government, Professor Govind Singh, discussed the impact of technological advancements on journalism. He highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence in media and explained how AI is being used in news writing, editing, graphics, and animation.
He advised students to learn AI tools and modern software to remain competitive in the industry. He also encouraged them to explore emerging career opportunities in fields such as political communication and public relations, which are gaining importance in the evolving media ecosystem.
Professor (Dr.) Sachin Batra, Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, stated that the media landscape is changing rapidly due to technological innovation. He pointed out that artificial intelligence has significantly transformed various aspects of media production, including content creation, editing, and visual presentation.
He emphasized the need for students to develop technical skills alongside traditional journalistic knowledge. According to him, understanding digital tools, data analysis, and new media technologies is essential for building a successful career in journalism. He added that students who adapt to these changes will have better opportunities in the future.
The workshop proved to be a valuable learning experience for students, providing them with practical insights into the current and future trends of the media industry.
