Greater Noida: Commuters travelling from Kasna to Sirsa and onward to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway are set to benefit from improved road infrastructure, as the Greater Noida Authority has decided to undertake major upgradation works on this key corridor. The Authority has approved the widening of the road stretch from Kasna to Sirsa and the resurfacing of the road from Sirsa roundabout to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway entry point, with the objective of ensuring smoother, safer and faster movement of traffic in the area.

According to officials, the widening work on the Kasna-to-Sirsa road is scheduled to commence in March, while the resurfacing of the Sirsa roundabout to Eastern Peripheral Expressway entry point has already received in-principle approval from the Additional Chief Executive Officer. These initiatives are part of the Greater Noida Authority’s ongoing efforts to strengthen road connectivity and upgrade infrastructure on important arterial routes that witness heavy daily traffic.

Prior to this decision, improvement works have already been completed on the city’s main 80-metre-wide road. The stretch from Bhati Rotary to Kasna and from Sirsa to Bhati Rotary, covering a total length of approximately 2.30 kilometres, has been repaired and strengthened at a cost of around ₹7 crore. With this work completed, the Authority is now focusing on further enhancing connectivity towards the Eastern Peripheral Expressway, which serves as a crucial link for regional and interstate traffic.

The road from Kasna to Sirsa and further to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway entry point witnesses the movement of thousands of vehicles every day. The importance of this route has increased significantly in view of the expected commencement of flight operations from the upcoming Noida International Airport. Once airport operations begin, traffic volume on this corridor is likely to rise further, making timely upgradation of road infrastructure essential to prevent congestion and ensure seamless connectivity.

Taking these factors into account, Greater Noida Authority Chief Executive Officer N G Ravi directed officials to expedite the process of improving both stretches. Acting on these instructions, the Authority’s project department has initiated the tender process for the widening of the Kasna-to-Sirsa road. Officials indicated that the work is expected to begin within the next two months, following the completion of procedural formalities.

The Kasna–Sirsa road stretch has a total length of about two kilometres. At present, the road has three lanes on each side. Under the proposed plan, it will be widened to four lanes on each side, which is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce bottlenecks during peak hours. The estimated cost of this widening project is approximately ₹9.5 crore. Once completed, the upgraded road will be able to accommodate higher traffic volumes more efficiently, benefiting daily commuters as well as commercial and logistics traffic.

In addition to widening, the Authority has also decided to undertake resurfacing of the road from Sirsa Rotary to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway entry point. This resurfacing work will be carried out using the milling method. Officials explained that under this technique, the existing road surface is milled and re-laid, ensuring that the overall height of the road does not increase. This is particularly important in areas where changes in road height could affect drainage, adjoining properties or connecting roads.

The milling method also allows for the reuse of recycled material, which not only reduces construction costs but also promotes environmental conservation. By reusing material from the existing road surface, the project is expected to generate less construction waste and have a lower environmental impact compared to conventional resurfacing methods. Once the tender process is completed, the resurfacing work is expected to take around six months to finish.

Both the road widening and resurfacing projects will be executed by the Authority’s project department through Work Circle-7. Officials have assured that strict monitoring will be carried out to ensure quality construction and adherence to timelines.

Additional Chief Executive Officer Sumit Yadav stated that the Authority is committed to completing both projects within the stipulated time frame. He emphasized that improving road infrastructure is a priority, as it directly affects the daily lives of residents and commuters. Timely completion of these works, he said, will ensure smoother traffic movement and enhance overall connectivity in the Greater Noida region.

With these planned upgrades, the Kasna–Sirsa–Eastern Peripheral Expressway corridor is expected to become more efficient and commuter-friendly, supporting future growth, improving access to key transport hubs, and contributing to the overall development of the area.
