Greater Noida, December 27, 2025:
In a bid to strengthen its cleanliness drive and promote effective solid waste management, the Greater Noida Authority has announced the launch of a Cleanliness Ranking Competition for bulk waste generators, including residential societies and non-residential institutions. The initiative aims to encourage better waste segregation, processing and compliance with Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, while rewarding best-performing establishments with cash prizes.

Under the competition, the top-ranked residential society will receive a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, while the second and third position holders will be awarded ₹75,000 and ₹50,000 respectively. In addition, two residential societies will receive consolation prizes of ₹25,000 each. Non-residential institutions participating in the competition will also be eligible for identical prize amounts across all categories. The winners will be felicitated during the flower exhibition proposed to be held in February 2026.
Online applications for the competition began on December 26 and will remain open until January 9, 2026. Interested residential and non-residential bulk waste generators must apply online through the designated link available on the Greater Noida Authority’s official website. The authority has clarified that applications will be accepted only through the online mode, and detailed information regarding eligibility criteria and evaluation parameters can be accessed on the website.
The initiative is being implemented as part of the Greater Noida Authority’s efforts to ensure strict adherence to the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, which mandate bulk waste generators to process their waste at source. As per the rules, the authority collects only non-recyclable inert waste, while the responsibility of managing biodegradable and recyclable waste lies with the generators themselves. Most residential societies in Greater Noida fall under the bulk waste generator category, making their participation crucial for the success of the city’s waste management framework.
Officials said that to further strengthen this campaign, the Health Department of the Greater Noida Authority is organizing the cleanliness ranking competition this year as well, following the directions of CEO N G Ravi Kumar. The objective is to motivate housing societies and institutions to adopt sustainable waste management practices and create cleaner, healthier surroundings.
The authority has fixed several parameters to assess the performance of participants. Applications received will be evaluated by a team of experts constituted by the Greater Noida Authority, who will examine compliance with waste segregation norms, in-house waste processing systems, cleanliness levels and overall adherence to prescribed guidelines. Based on this assessment, winners will be selected separately for residential and non-residential categories.
The prize structure remains the same for both categories. Participants securing the first position will receive ₹1 lakh each, those in the second position ₹75,000, and third position ₹50,000. Additionally, two successful applicants from each category will be awarded consolation prizes of ₹25,000 each.
Encouraging maximum participation, Greater Noida Authority ACEO Shrilakshmi V S has appealed to all residential societies and institutions in the city to actively take part in the cleanliness ranking competition. She also urged residents and institutions to strictly follow solid waste management rules and maintain cleanliness within their premises to support the city’s broader sanitation goals.
The authority believes that such incentive-based initiatives will not only improve waste management practices but also foster a sense of responsibility among residents and institutions. By linking cleanliness performance with recognition and rewards, the Greater Noida Authority hopes to build a sustainable model of urban sanitation and reinforce public participation in keeping the city clean.
Further details regarding application procedures, evaluation parameters and competition guidelines are available on the official website of the Greater Noida Authority.
