On Friday, February 20, 2026, foundation stones for multiple development projects under the Member of Parliament Local Area Development scheme were laid in Kanawani village, Noida, by Gautam Buddh Nagar MP and former Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, along with Noida Metropolitan President Mahesh Chauhan. Local residents, the village head and party workers were present at the event.

Under the MP fund, ten development projects will be undertaken in the Noida Assembly constituency at an estimated cost of ₹104 lakh. Ten projects worth ₹100 lakh will be carried out in Dadri Assembly constituency, while eleven projects amounting to ₹88 lakh will be executed in Jewar Assembly constituency. Altogether, works worth ₹292 lakh have been initiated across the three constituencies.
The ceremony was held in Kanawani village, where the projects were formally launched by cutting the ribbon and performing traditional rituals. Residents welcomed the announcement and expressed hope that the works would strengthen civic infrastructure in the area.

Addressing the gathering, Mahesh Sharma said development is a continuous process and will move forward according to the needs of the people. He stated that issues raised by residents would be taken up with the concerned authorities. Discussions would be held with the Ghaziabad Development Authority and the District Magistrate to ensure timely resolution of local problems.
He added that development efforts are being carried out in coordination with state and central government policies. Works are also progressing through the MLA fund of Noida legislator Pankaj Singh, and further projects will continue under the MP fund.

Priority areas include roads, drainage systems, community buildings, street lighting and other essential civic amenities. These initiatives aim to improve public convenience and ensure balanced urban development.
Several local leaders and community representatives were present at the event, and a large number of residents from Kanawani and nearby areas participated in the programme.
It was stated that development initiatives will continue with public participation, focusing on resolving local concerns and strengthening infrastructure across the constituency.
