The New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (Noida) on 23 February 2026 marked the commencement of construction work for two new two-lane bridges over the Noida Main Drain in Village Salarpur. The foundation stone for the project was laid during a formal ceremony attended by senior public representatives and officials.
According to the Authority, the bridges will be constructed at kilometre points 7.800 and 8.600 along the Noida Main Drain. The project is aimed at improving connectivity and facilitating smoother movement for residents of Village Salarpur and adjoining areas.
The foundation stone ceremony was carried out by Member of Parliament Mahesh Sharma and MLA Pankaj Singh. Several senior officials of the Noida Authority and representatives of concerned departments were also present on the occasion.
Among those attending the event were Satish Pal, Additional Chief Executive Officer, Sanjay Bali, MP Representative, Kranti Shekhar, Officer on Special Duty, Indu Prakash, Officer on Special Duty, Ashok Kumar Aroda, General Manager (Civil), S.P. Singh, General Manager (Civil), Rohit Singh, Senior Manager (Work Circle-8), along with officers from the Irrigation Department.
The Noida Authority stated that the construction work will be undertaken by the Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Uttar Pradesh, through the Head Works Division, Agra Canal, Okhla, New Delhi. The department will execute the project in accordance with approved technical specifications.
As part of the project, new bridges will be constructed in place of the existing older structures over the irrigation channel in Village Salarpur. Officials indicated that the development is expected to significantly enhance local transportation infrastructure and ensure safer and more efficient movement for commuters.
The Authority provided details regarding the technical configuration of the proposed bridges. Each bridge will have a length of 33.00 metres and a total width of 11.50 metres. The design includes a 7.50-metre-wide carriageway along with 2.00-metre-wide footpaths on both sides, ensuring adequate space for vehicular as well as pedestrian movement.
In terms of financial allocation, the Authority stated that the total estimated cost of each bridge stands at ₹496.28 lakh. Consequently, the combined expenditure for the construction of both bridges is projected at ₹992.56 lakh.
Officials of the Noida Authority noted that the project forms part of broader infrastructure development efforts aimed at strengthening urban and rural connectivity within the Authority’s jurisdiction. The bridges are expected to address long-standing mobility challenges faced by residents and improve overall accessibility in the area.
During the event, representatives highlighted the importance of upgrading local infrastructure to support growing traffic demands and ensure better civic amenities. The project was described as a step toward enhancing public convenience and promoting planned development.
