Noida, April 30, 2026:
The Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA) has written to the Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority, raising concerns over deteriorating drinking water quality and the condition of aging sewer infrastructure in the city. The residents’ body has called for immediate and long-term measures to address these issues, which it says are posing serious health risks to citizens.
In its representation, FONRWA highlighted that the demand for clean and safe drinking water in Noida has been raised repeatedly over the years, but adequate action has yet to be taken. The association stated that ensuring safe water supply is a basic civic responsibility and must be treated as a priority by the authorities.
FONRWA President Yogendra Sharma said that residents across multiple sectors have been facing persistent issues related to water quality.
He emphasized that despite continuous follow-ups and complaints, the situation has not improved significantly. According to him, access to clean drinking water is essential for public health and cannot be compromised.
General Secretary K.K. Jain pointed out that in several sectors, contaminated water supply has become a recurring problem. He noted that residents have reported discolored water, foul smell, and concerns about possible health hazards arising from the supply of unsafe water. These issues, he said, are becoming increasingly serious and require urgent intervention.
The association also drew attention to the poor condition of sewer infrastructure, particularly in older sectors of Noida. Officials from FONRWA stated that many sewer lines are outdated and damaged, leading to frequent leakages. These leakages increase the risk of contamination of drinking water pipelines, especially where sewer and water lines run close to each other.
Residents have expressed concern that the mixing of sewage with drinking water could lead to outbreaks of waterborne diseases. FONRWA emphasized that such risks must be addressed proactively to prevent any public health crisis.
The association has urged the Noida Authority to prioritize the replacement of old and frequently leaking sewer lines. It has also called for a comprehensive review of the city’s water supply and sewer systems to identify problem areas and implement permanent solutions.
FONRWA further requested that all pending issues related to water supply and sewer management be resolved on an urgent basis. It stressed the need for a systematic and sustainable approach rather than temporary fixes, which often fail to address the root cause of the problem.
The residents’ body also highlighted the importance of regular monitoring and maintenance of both water supply and sewer infrastructure. It suggested that the authority should adopt modern technologies and improved systems to ensure better quality control and efficient management.
Officials believe that addressing these concerns will significantly improve the quality of life for residents and restore public confidence in civic services. Ensuring safe drinking water and a reliable sewer system is considered essential for maintaining hygiene, public health, and overall urban living standards.
FONRWA has expressed hope that the Noida Authority will take prompt action on the issues raised and implement effective measures to ensure that residents receive clean, safe, and reliable drinking water without any risk of contamination.
The association reiterated its commitment to continue working in coordination with authorities to highlight civic issues and advocate for better infrastructure and services for the residents of Noida.
