Gautam Buddh Nagar, May 6, 2026:
The District Magistrate of Gautam Buddh Nagar conducted a review meeting at the Collectorate auditorium regarding preparations for Census 2027 and issued necessary directions to district-level officials and charge officers for the smooth conduct and extensive promotion of the upcoming self-enumeration process.
The self-enumeration phase will begin in the district on May 7 and continue until May 21, 2026. Officials stated that the initiative is part of the first phase of India’s Census 2027 programme and is aimed at encouraging active public participation through digital platforms.
During the meeting, the District Magistrate directed all departmental officers to personally assist eminent citizens and freedom fighters during the self-enumeration process. Officials were also instructed to create awareness among employees within their respective departments about the importance of participating in this nationally significant exercise.
The administration appealed to Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), particularly in group housing societies, as well as the general public, to actively participate in the self-enumeration initiative and contribute to the successful implementation of Census 2027.
The District Magistrate also reviewed the ongoing training programme for enumerators and supervisors engaged in census work. Officials were instructed to ensure complete compliance with assigned responsibilities and maintain discipline during the training process. The District Magistrate clearly stated that absence from training sessions by any official would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
During the meeting, Deputy Director Abhimanyu Singh from the Census Directorate explained the self-enumeration process in detail through a PowerPoint presentation. Officials were informed that the first phase of Census 2027, known as House Listing Operations (HLO) and House Census, is scheduled to be conducted in Uttar Pradesh from May 22 to June 20, 2026.
Before the commencement of house listing operations, citizens will be provided with a 15-day self-enumeration facility from May 7 to May 21, 2026. Through this initiative, families can voluntarily enter their information online through the official census portal.
Census Self-Enumeration Portal
Officials described self-enumeration as an innovative and voluntary initiative that will also make Census 2027 India’s first fully digital census exercise. Citizens will be able to directly upload their household information on the portal, reducing dependency on physical data collection.
The administration highlighted several advantages of the self-enumeration system, including faster data collection, greater accuracy because information is being submitted directly by citizens, reduction in errors or omissions during field enumeration, and improved convenience through digital access.
Authorities stated that public participation will play a crucial role in ensuring the success and accuracy of Census 2027. Officials also emphasized the importance of awareness campaigns to encourage citizens to complete the process within the designated timeline.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer Narendra Kumar, Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Atul Kumar, District Forest Officer Rajnikant Mittal, Deputy Commissioner Industries Pankaj Nirwan, District Basic Education Officer Rahul Pawar, and other concerned officials.
