New Delhi, 20 December 2025:
Delhi’s Health and Transport Minister, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, on Friday strongly criticised the Opposition for resorting to personal allegations and derogatory remarks against women leadership, stressing that public debate should focus on issues and governance performance rather than petty politics. Addressing a press conference, Dr. Singh emphasised that baseless attacks and poster campaigns targeting the city’s Chief Minister are unacceptable in a democratic system.
Dr. Singh pointed out that the Opposition’s politics often prioritised personal interests over public welfare. “If the Opposition had genuinely worked for the citizens during its tenure, Delhi’s current situation would have been far better. Unfortunately, their focus remained on narrow political gains,” he said. He called out comments and campaigns targeting a woman Chief Minister as “unfortunate and completely condemnable,” stating that such behaviour has no place in public life.
Highlighting the need for accountability and evidence-based debate, the Minister challenged the Opposition to engage in discussions on real issues affecting Delhi. He specifically urged Arvind Kejriwal to present at least five concrete initiatives undertaken during his ten-year tenure and clarify what steps were taken to strengthen the health and transport systems in the city.
Dr. Singh contrasted the present government’s performance with that of the previous administration, noting that key sectors like health and transport were pushed into massive losses under the Opposition, amounting to thousands of crores. “Our government is focused on reforms, accountability, and outcome-oriented governance. Every step we take is aimed at delivering tangible results for the citizens,” he added.
On the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), the Minister expressed confidence that the corporation is on track to emerge from losses and move toward a profit-making position within the year. He assured that visible and positive changes in public transport would be evident on the ground in the coming months.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to action over politics, Dr. Singh said that the Delhi Government continues to work with dedication to fulfil the mandate given by the people. “The citizens have placed their trust in the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a ‘Viksit Delhi,’ and our administration remains fully committed to implementing policies that strengthen governance, public services, and infrastructure in the city,” he concluded.
Through these statements, Dr. Singh underscored that constructive debate in Delhi should centre on policy, service delivery, and developmental outcomes, rather than personal attacks or derogatory campaigns targeting women leaders, reaffirming the government’s emphasis on integrity, transparency, and citizen-focused governance.
