In a significant push towards transparent, data-driven and efficient governance, the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi is set to roll out DARPAN 2.0, an advanced real-time digital dashboard designed to monitor the performance of government schemes and services across departments. Developed by the National Informatics Centre under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the platform aims to provide decision-makers with a unified, analytics-driven view of governance outcomes, enabling faster and more informed policy decisions.
Officials said DARPAN 2.0 has been conceptualised as a next-generation performance-monitoring tool that will integrate multiple Management Information Systems across departments into a single, consolidated interface. The platform is expected to address long-standing challenges posed by siloed, fragmented and inconsistent data, which often slow down decision-making and weaken accountability.
Once operational, the dashboard will provide real-time insights into the progress of key government schemes and services. It will feature department-wise Key Performance Indicators, live progress tracking, early-warning indicators for potential delays or bottlenecks, and comparative analytics that allow performance benchmarking across departments. The system will also generate real-time alerts and rankings to help senior officials quickly identify areas requiring intervention.
According to officials familiar with the project, DARPAN 2.0 builds on the success of the original DARPAN model, which has been used as a centralised monitoring framework. The upgraded version will be customised specifically for Delhi, with priority schemes integrated through secure Application Programming Interfaces. This approach will ensure seamless and reliable data flow from departmental systems into the dashboard without manual intervention.
The rollout of DARPAN 2.0 will be carried out in phases over a period of 12 to 16 weeks. During this time, departments will be onboarded gradually, followed by comprehensive training programmes for nodal officers and key personnel. The training component is aimed at ensuring effective use of the platform and embedding a data-driven culture within the administration.
Commenting on the initiative, Delhi’s IT Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh described DARPAN 2.0 as a transformative step towards accountable and performance-oriented governance. He said the platform would break down data barriers between departments and provide the leadership with a real-time, unified view of government performance.
“DARPAN 2.0 marks a transformative leap toward accountable, data-smart governance in Delhi. By breaking down data silos and offering real-time insights into departmental performance, this platform will empower decision-makers to act swiftly, enhance service delivery and, under the guidance of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, ensure that every scheme reaches the people effectively and transparently,” Singh said.
Officials said the key strength of the platform lies in its ability to translate large volumes of administrative data into actionable intelligence. Through KPI-based monitoring and visual dashboards, departments will be able to track outcomes rather than just inputs, improving both accountability and efficiency. The early detection of implementation bottlenecks is expected to help departments correct course in real time, reducing delays and improving service delivery to citizens.
The government also sees DARPAN 2.0 as a foundational platform for future technological expansion. Once fully stabilised, the system can be extended to include predictive analytics, artificial intelligence-driven insights and public-facing dashboards, allowing citizens to track the performance of key schemes in real time. Such features are expected to further enhance transparency and public trust in governance.
The initiative aligns closely with the broader Digital India vision and reflects Delhi’s emphasis on leveraging technology to improve governance outcomes. Officials said the platform will support evidence-based policymaking by enabling leaders to assess what is working, what needs improvement and where resources should be prioritised.
DARPAN, which stands for Dashboard for Analytics, Review and Performance Assessment Nationwide, is a configurable and multilingual platform developed by NIC under MeitY. It enables round-the-clock monitoring of flagship schemes through drill-down dashboards, KPI-based scorecards and seamless API-driven data integration.
Once DARPAN 2.0 becomes fully operational, it is expected to significantly improve coordination between departments, enhance accountability at all levels and strengthen the overall quality of governance and citizen service delivery in the national capital.
