The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to release the date sheet for the 2025 board exams for classes 10 and 12 in December, although no official date or time has been confirmed. The exams are set to begin on February 15, 2025, and are likely to conclude in April. In addition to the written exams, the board will also issue a separate schedule for practical examinations. For Class 10 students, practicals will be conducted under the supervision of school teachers, while Class 12 practicals will involve external examiners visiting the schools.
Looking at previous trends, the CBSE released the exam schedule for the 2024 board exams on December 12, 2023, with practicals and internal assessments taking place from January 1 to February 14, 2024. Winter-bound schools conducted their practical exams from November 14 to December 14, 2023. The 2024 board exams were held between February 15 and April 2, with results declared on May 13, 2024. Additionally, supplementary exams were conducted from July 15 to July 22, 2024.
In preparation for the 2025 exams, the CBSE has mandated that all schools designated as examination centers must implement Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance. Around 44 lakh students are expected to participate in the exams, which will take place in approximately 8,000 schools across India and 26 other countries. This new policy is part of the board’s efforts to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the exams.
To help affiliated schools complete the List of Candidates (LOC) submission for the 2024-25 exams, the CBSE has issued detailed guidelines and circulars, including one on September 4, 2024, and another on September 12, 2024. In these circulars, the board has provided a set of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to assist schools in understanding and accurately submitting the required data. The FAQs address common queries related to the LOC process, ensuring that schools are better equipped to meet the submission deadlines.
As the countdown to the 2025 board exams begins, students, teachers, and schools are eagerly awaiting the official release of the examination schedule. The CBSE is taking every step to ensure a seamless process for all parties involved, from data submission to the execution of both practical and written examinations.
