The International Hockey Federation (FIH) unveiled the complete schedule for the Olympic hockey tournament on Wednesday, providing fans with key dates to mark on their calendars.

India, currently ranked fourth in the FIH rankings, finds itself in Pool B alongside formidable opponents such as reigning Olympic champions Belgium (world No. 2), Australia (world No. 5), Argentina (world No. 7), New Zealand (world No. 10), and Ireland (world No. 12). Notably, both Argentina and Australia boast a rich history in Olympic hockey, having clinched the coveted title in the past.
Having secured their Paris 2024 berth by clinching the gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games, the Indian hockey team faces a challenging journey ahead. Following their clash with New Zealand, the Indian squad will lock horns with defending champions Belgium on August 1, followed by a showdown against Tokyo 2020 silver medallists Australia the next day.
It is pertinent to note that, India’s memorable bronze medal finish at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics marked a historic moment, ending a 41-year Olympic medal drought in hockey for the nation. With their eyes set on further glory, the Indian team aims to make a mark on the global stage once again at Paris 2024.
During the Paris 2024 Olympics, teams will engage in a round-robin format during the group stage, with each team facing off against one another once. The top four teams from each pool will advance to the quarter-finals, setting the stage for intense battles as teams vie for a coveted spot on the podium.
The medal round matches for the men’s hockey tournament are scheduled for August 8, promising thrilling encounters as the world’s best teams vie for Olympic glory.
