30 March 2026, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
A significant programme aimed at strengthening maternal and child welfare services was organised at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium in Gautam Buddh Nagar under the chairmanship of Chief Development Officer Dr. Shivakant Dwivedi. The event was held in alignment with a state-level initiative led by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Lok Bhawan, Lucknow, where appointment letters, smartphones, and growth monitoring devices were distributed to Anganwadi workers across the state. The programme also included the foundation laying of Child Development Project Offices and inauguration of Anganwadi centres, reflecting the government’s focus on strengthening grassroots service delivery.

The initiative is part of the state government’s broader effort to enhance maternal and child healthcare services while accelerating the implementation of nutrition-related programmes. By equipping frontline workers with modern tools and technology, the government aims to improve efficiency, transparency, and the overall quality of services provided at the community level.
The district organised a programme to distribute appointment letters, smartphones, and growth monitoring devices to Anganwadi workers, strengthening maternal and child welfare services.
Live Broadcast and Participation
During the district-level programme, all attendees watched the live telecast of the state-level event held in Lucknow. Officials, Anganwadi workers, and staff listened attentively to the address of Yogi Adityanath, who emphasised the critical role played by Anganwadi workers in delivering essential services related to maternal health, child development, and nutrition. He highlighted the importance of empowering them with digital tools and modern resources to ensure better service delivery and real-time monitoring.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials of the Child Development Services and Nutrition Department, including District Programme Officer Ashish Kumar and Child Development Project Officer Sandhya Soni. Chief supervisors, Anganwadi workers, and other departmental staff were also present in large numbers, reflecting the importance of the initiative at the grassroots level.
Distribution of Devices and Appointment Support
Following the live broadcast, Chief Development Officer Dr. Shivakant Dwivedi distributed modern devices and tools to Anganwadi workers and supervisors to enhance their operational capabilities. A total of 95 smartphones were distributed to facilitate digital record-keeping, real-time reporting, and improved communication within the department.
In addition, 633 stadiometers were provided to accurately measure children’s height, and 55 infantometers were distributed to ensure precise measurement of infants’ growth parameters. These devices are expected to play a crucial role in monitoring child nutrition levels and identifying cases of malnutrition at an early stage.

The distribution of appointment letters and digital tools represents a major step towards modernising Anganwadi services and strengthening field-level implementation of government schemes. The use of technology will enable better tracking of beneficiaries, improved data accuracy, and timely intervention in cases requiring attention.
Strengthening Maternal and Child Welfare Services
Addressing the gathering, Chief Development Officer Dr. Shivakant Dwivedi emphasised the importance of dedication, responsibility, and commitment in the role of Anganwadi workers. He encouraged them to utilise the newly provided tools effectively to improve service delivery and ensure that benefits reach every eligible beneficiary.
He expressed confidence that the integration of modern devices into the system will enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in departmental operations. With improved monitoring mechanisms, the district administration aims to strengthen maternal and child welfare services and ensure better health outcomes for women and children.

A Step Towards Better Governance
The programme not only boosted the morale of Anganwadi workers but also demonstrated the government’s commitment to empowering frontline workers who play a vital role in implementing welfare schemes. By combining administrative support with technological advancement, the initiative is expected to significantly improve the delivery of nutrition and healthcare services at the grassroots level.
Officials highlighted that such programmes are essential for ensuring the effective implementation of government policies and for achieving long-term goals related to child development and public health. The initiative is also aligned with the state’s vision of creating a robust and responsive welfare delivery system.
The event concluded with a message of collective responsibility and continued commitment towards improving the lives of women and children in the district. With the distribution of modern tools and renewed focus on capacity building, Gautam Buddh Nagar is set to witness further improvements in maternal and child welfare services in the coming months.
