Bareilly, 09 Sept (HS): On Friday, a six-month-old child was reportedly sexually abused by her 20-year-old neighbor in a hamlet in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district’s Bahjoi region. On Thursday, the survivor’s mother, who resides in Budaun, arrived in Sambhal with her newborn baby to see her parents. On Friday, Sanjeev, the woman’s distant uncle, came to meet the family and brought her daughter to his house to play with her.
After a while, the mother heard her baby wailing and raced to Sanjeev’s house, where she discovered her daughter nude and bleeding. She quickly yelled for assistance. Sanjeev was promptly apprehended and beaten up by his family and others in the neighborhood.
He was arrested and turned over to the police. Meanwhile, the survivor was taken to a hospital for treatment. The child’s condition is stable, and she was released from the hospital on Saturday.
We have arrested the accused and he has been booked under sections 376 (rape) of the IPC as well as sections 5 and 6 of the Pocso Act, said Additional SP Shirish Chandra.” The offender, who is single and jobless, confessed to his crime and was sentenced to Sambhal district jail on Saturday, he added.
