Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzurabani expressed his anticipation to dismiss Shubman Gill during the upcoming series against India, commencing on July 6. Shubman Gill will lead a youthful Indian side in his maiden captaincy stint for the national team, expected to play a pivotal role as a key batsman throughout the series.
In an exclusive interview with India Today, Muzurabani was queried about targeting Shubman Gill as a primary objective. While acknowledging Shubman Gill’s stature as a prominent figure in international cricket, Muzurabani emphasized his distinct approach to each wicket-taking opportunity.
“I hold Shubman Gill in high regard due to his significant performances in international cricket. He’s widely recognized in the cricketing world. However, I approach each wicket without singling out specific players or aiming to make any one a ‘bunny’,” Muzurabani stated.
He underscored that his focus remains on contributing to Zimbabwe’s victory, irrespective of the opponent. “Ultimately, my aim is to contribute to Zimbabwe’s success in the game. Whether I dismiss a player or not, it’s about fulfilling my role for the team. So, I don’t fixate on names; it’s about executing our team strategy,” he elaborated.
Regarding Shubman Gill specifically, Muzurabani acknowledged his talent but maintained his professional outlook. “Shubman is undoubtedly a talented player. It would certainly be satisfying to dismiss him,” he added.
The 5-match series is scheduled to take place in Harare from July 6 to 14, marking an important opportunity for Zimbabwe to compete against a youthful Indian squad under Shubman Gill’s leadership.
