A serious incident occurred on Monday evening in Tower G5 at Supertech Eco Village 1, Greater Noida West, when a lift suddenly went into free fall from the 13th floor and stopped abruptly at the 8th floor. A woman inside the lift was seriously injured and sustained leg injuries. She was immediately taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The injured woman, Reena Prasad, said she had gone to pick up her grandchildren from tuition. Just minutes after entering the lift, it began to fall rapidly. Due to the sudden jolts, she almost lost balance but managed to exit safely when the lift stopped at the 8th floor. Other passengers inside were terrified but unharmed.
Local residents reported that lifts in Supertech Eco Village 1 are regularly maintained. Despite this, the incident occurred, raising serious safety concerns among residents. Several residents highlighted that if such an accident had occurred during peak hours, the consequences could have been far more severe.
The society management immediately dispatched the security team to the site. They assisted the injured woman out of the lift and provided first aid. The management confirmed that a full inspection of the lift will be conducted, and responsible parties will face strict action.
Local authorities have also taken the incident seriously. Officials stated that a thorough investigation will be carried out, including reviewing technical documentation, maintenance records, and safety systems of the lift.
