Greater Noida, December 17, 2025:
In a significant step towards promoting environmental responsibility, the Greater Noida Authority organized a nine-day public awareness campaign titled “Badlaav: Rethink How We Produce, Consume, and Dispose of Plastic – It’s Our Responsibility” from December 8 to 16, 2025. The campaign, conducted under the guidance of CEO N.G. Ravi Kumar, involved the Health Department team and members of the NGO ‘Nature Bodies’ to educate residents about responsible plastic usage and effective waste management practices. The initiative was supported by the Center for Environment Education (CEE), HDFC Bank, and Blue Planet Environmental Solutions.
During the campaign, more than 250 awareness events were held across 20 residential welfare associations (RWAs), 50 markets and public spaces, 4 schools, 2 hospitals, 10 industries, and 2 bulk waste generators (BWGs)/hotels, reaching over 100,000 residents. The events featured interactive activities such as street plays, mime shows, rallies, roadshows, theme-based dance performances, quizzes, door-to-door dialogues, and cleanliness drives, making the environmental messages engaging and accessible to all age groups.
The campaign emphasized simple yet effective practices, including avoiding single-use plastics, segregating wet and dry waste, preventing littering, and maintaining a clean environment. Messages like “Green Wet, Blue Dry” and “Wet Waste, Dry Waste – Two Types of Waste” helped communities understand the importance of waste segregation. Shopkeepers and vendors actively participated by cleaning their premises and reducing plastic use, and over 500 cloth bags were distributed to promote sustainable alternatives in local markets.
A special cleanliness drive was held at Chaudhary Keshram Inter College, Ecotech-3, where more than 100 volunteers collected nearly 70 kilograms of waste. Officers from the Greater Noida Authority, including Chief General Manager Sandeep Chandra, Senior Manager Chet Ram Singh, Assistant Managers Kuldeep Sharma and Gaurav Baghel, participated actively in the campaign. CEO (ACE) Lakshmi V.S. appealed to shopkeepers and vendors to place dustbins in their establishments and avoid single-use plastics, emphasizing that maintaining a clean and green Greater Noida is a collective responsibility. Residents were also urged to contribute actively to keeping the city clean.
The “Badlaav” campaign demonstrates the Greater Noida Authority’s commitment to environmental sustainability by fostering community participation, promoting eco-friendly practices, and ensuring widespread awareness about responsible plastic consumption and waste management. It serves as a model for combining education, engagement, and action to create lasting positive impact on urban environmental health.
