Gautam Buddh Nagar, March 20, 2026:
The Uttar Pradesh government’s achievements over the past nine years were highlighted during a press conference held at the Collectorate auditorium in Gautam Buddh Nagar, where district in-charge minister Brajesh Singh outlined the state’s progress in governance, security, welfare, infrastructure, agriculture, employment, and economic growth. A booklet based on Gautam Buddh Nagar’s development and achievements during the same period was also released on the occasion.
The event was attended by Legislative Council member Narendra Bhati, Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, Dadri MLA Tejpal Nagar, Zila Panchayat Chairperson Amit Chaudhary, BJP district president Abhishek Sharma, BJP metropolitan president Mahesh Chauhan, the District Magistrate, and other public representatives. During the event, the dignitaries jointly unveiled a publication documenting the district’s development milestones over the last nine years.
Addressing the media, Brajesh Singh said Uttar Pradesh has achieved historic progress in the fields of good governance, law and order, and inclusive development under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He said the state’s journey since 2017 was not merely about a change in government, but about systemic transformation aimed at bringing security, better governance, and development to the forefront. According to him, Uttar Pradesh has moved from disorder to stability, from disappointment to confidence, and from the image of a lagging state to that of a fast-developing one, emerging as a key engine in India’s growth story.
He said the state’s governance model has rested on three major pillars: rule of law, transparent policy and administration, and guaranteed delivery of benefits to the last person. In the field of law and order, the government adopted a zero-tolerance approach, under which mafia properties worth over ₹4,000 crore were seized or demolished, 53 organized criminal gangs were dismantled, and action was taken against 977 criminals under the National Security Act. He also said that over 2.19 lakh police personnel were recruited to strengthen policing across the state, while the response time of UP-112 was reduced from one hour to six minutes, helping improve public safety and encouraging investment.
On welfare measures, the minister said nearly 15 crore people have been provided free ration under food security schemes, while, according to a NITI Aayog report cited during the briefing, around 6 crore people have moved above the poverty line. He added that 5.60 crore Ayushman cards have been issued, providing health insurance coverage to 9 crore people. Around 1 crore destitute women, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities are receiving a monthly pension of ₹1,000, which the government proposes to raise to ₹1,500. Financial assistance of ₹1 lakh has also been given for the marriages of daughters from poor families, benefiting more than 5 lakh families, while the Kanya Sumangala scheme has been promoted to support girls’ education.
Highlighting women’s empowerment efforts, Singh said 1.06 crore women have been linked with self-help groups and 18 lakh women have become “Lakhpati Didis.” He said these initiatives have helped raise women’s workforce participation in the state from 13 percent to 36 percent. In agriculture, he said foodgrain production has increased from 557 lakh metric tonnes to 737 lakh metric tonnes, the highest in the country. Sugarcane farmers have received payments exceeding ₹3.15 lakh crore, while 3.12 crore farmers have received ₹99,000 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, reducing dependence on middlemen and ensuring direct support.
In the area of youth, education, and employment, the minister said more than 9 lakh government jobs have been provided in the last nine years. Under the “School Chalo Abhiyan,” around 40 lakh new enrolments have been recorded, while 49.86 lakh young people have received tablets and smartphones. He added that through the Chief Minister Youth Campaign, interest-free and collateral-free loans have been given to connect around 1.25 lakh youth with self-employment opportunities. He also said the state has received private investment proposals worth ₹50 lakh crore, which have the potential to create more than 1 crore jobs.
On infrastructure, Singh said that while Uttar Pradesh had only two expressways in 2017, work is now progressing in the direction of 22 expressways. He said the inauguration of the Ganga Expressway from Meerut to Prayagraj has been proposed. The number of airports has increased from two to 16 operational airports, with eight more under construction. He also noted that North India’s first semiconductor unit is being established in the state, metro rail services are operational in seven cities, and the Namo Bharat rapid rail is already running between Delhi and Meerut.
The minister further said that under urban and rural development initiatives, more than 62 lakh families have been provided permanent housing, uninterrupted electricity supply has been ensured, and extensive work has been carried out to improve roads, electrification, and basic amenities in villages. Clean drinking water is also being supplied under the “Har Ghar Nal Se Jal” scheme. In tourism and cultural development, he said projects such as the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and development works in Ayodhya have significantly boosted tourism. The state, he said, has recorded more than 156 crore tourist visits, while events such as Mahakumbh 2025 have further elevated Uttar Pradesh’s global identity.
From an economic perspective, Singh said Uttar Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product has risen from ₹13 lakh crore to nearly ₹36 lakh crore, while per capita income has tripled. He added that the state currently contributes 9.1 percent to the national economy. The government has now set a target of transforming Uttar Pradesh into a $1 trillion economy by 2029–30, with sustained efforts focused on infrastructure, industrial investment, agriculture, and skill development. He said the last nine years have laid a strong foundation of accountable governance, public trust, and sustained development, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a major driving force in the country’s economic journey.
