Lucknow, 07 Sept (HS): Uttar Pradesh’s secondary education department has issued rules mandating a 15-minute morning assembly in all state institutions. The announcement came a day after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed principals to make morning assembly a part of the curriculum and to arrive 15 minutes early. According to the directive, if a school begins at 10 a.m., morning assembly should begin at 9.45 a.m. During the assembly, students will be encouraged to take pledges for various purposes such as cleanliness, talk about quotable quotes of great personalities, discuss important news of the day, quiz on general topics, and recitation of the national anthem, said Mahendra Dev, director of secondary education, in a notification.
As part of ‘naya sawera,’ two senior officers will visit schools during assembly hours and interact with students on topics such as life values, discipline, career, daily routine, and current events. Schools must welcome former students and successful community members.
