In a statement released on Sunday, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) disclosed that over 1.7 million individuals have been compelled to evacuate their residences since the commencement of the conflict in Gaza.
UNRWA communicated via X platform, emphasizing the enduring plight with the message, “Six months of ceaseless upheaval. Approximately 1.7 million individuals have been displaced from their homes.”
Throughout the duration of the conflict, UNRWA facilities have been repurposed to offer emergency shelter to numerous families in search of refuge amidst the crisis.
A report supported by the UN highlighted an impending famine in northern Gaza, underscoring a significant increase in the number of individuals in the Palestinian territories confronting severe food scarcity since December of the preceding year.
The overwhelming majority of displacements in Gaza stemmed from the Israeli military campaign, which also resulted in extensive damage to healthcare infrastructure within the besieged enclave.
