Gautam Buddh Nagar, December 22, 2025
The Transport Department of Gautam Buddh Nagar has intensified its enforcement drive against unauthorised buses operating across the district, registering significant action during the ongoing financial year 2025–26. Assistant Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement) Dr. Udit Narayan Pandey said that sustained and effective enforcement measures are being carried out to curb illegal passenger transport and ensure road safety.
According to the Transport Department, a comprehensive district-wide campaign was conducted by all enforcement teams up to December 18, 2025. During this period, a total of 478 vehicles were challaned for violations related to unauthorised operations and non-compliance with transport regulations. In addition, 332 vehicles were seized and detained at various police stations across the district as part of strict enforcement action.
As a result of these measures, the department collected a total compounding fee of ₹253.97 lakh, reflecting heightened vigilance and consistent monitoring by transport enforcement authorities. Officials said the substantial recovery underscores the department’s firm approach towards ensuring compliance with transport laws and deterring illegal operations.

Dr. Pandey said that special attention has been given to violations involving passenger buses, particularly cases of overloading of passengers and illegal carriage of goods. During the same period, enforcement teams challaned 114 buses found violating norms related to overloading and improper use. Of these, 87 buses were seized and detained at different police stations, further strengthening road safety measures in the district.
The ARTO (Enforcement) stated that unauthorised operation of passenger vehicles poses serious risks to public safety and often leads to traffic congestion and accidents. He said the department has been conducting special enforcement drives in line with instructions received from the transport headquarters to tackle such violations effectively.
Officials confirmed that these special campaigns are not limited to periodic drives but form part of a continuous enforcement strategy. Action against unauthorised buses and other passenger vehicles is currently underway and will continue with the same intensity in the coming days to ensure strict adherence to transport regulations.

The Transport Department said the enforcement action has contributed to noticeable improvements in traffic discipline and overall transport management in Gautam Buddh Nagar. Authorities believe that sustained action against illegal operations will help create a safer commuting environment for passengers and reduce risks associated with unregulated transport services.
Officials also highlighted that ensuring passenger safety remains the department’s top priority. By curbing overloading and unauthorised operations, the department aims to minimise road accidents and improve compliance among transport operators.
The Transport Department has appealed to vehicle owners and operators to strictly follow transport rules and obtain necessary permits before operating passenger vehicles. Authorities warned that violations will attract strict penalties, including seizure of vehicles and legal action as per applicable laws.
The ongoing drive, officials said, reflects the district administration’s commitment to enforcing transport regulations, improving road safety, and protecting the interests of commuters. The department reiterated that enforcement efforts will remain robust to prevent unauthorised operations and maintain an orderly transport system in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
