A horrific road accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district claimed the lives of seven people and left 14 others injured after a head-on collision between a truck and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the early hours of Monday. The accident occurred around 2:30 am near Upni petrol pump on Sidhi-Bahri Road, sending shockwaves through the local community.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gayatri Tiwari, the SUV, which was being used as a taxi service, was carrying members of a family on their way to Maihar when it collided with an oncoming truck traveling from Sidhi to Bahri. The impact of the crash was devastating, leading to the immediate death of seven occupants of the SUV. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to provide aid and transport the injured to medical facilities.
The injured were swiftly taken to the Sidhi district hospital for urgent medical attention. However, due to the severity of their injuries, nine victims were later referred to a hospital in Rewa for advanced treatment. Authorities confirmed that the truck driver had been detained for questioning, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
Eyewitnesses reported that the collision was severe, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. The SUV, carrying passengers, was nearly crushed due to the force of the impact.
