Bollywood has often witnessed on-set feuds between stars, and one such infamous conflict involved Sunny Deol and Anil Kapoor during the making of the film Intkam. The two actors, who worked together in movies like Ram Avtar, Joshilaay, and Intkam, had their camaraderie marred by disagreements that eventually ended their collaborations. Despite delivering hits together, their professional relationship soured, leaving fans wondering about the reasons behind the fallout.
The rift reportedly began during the filming of Joshilaay. According to IMDb, the issue arose when the film’s credits listed Anil Kapoor’s name before Sunny Deol’s. This seemingly minor decision deeply upset Sunny Deol, who refrained from confronting Anil Kapoor at the time but carried the grievance forward. The tension escalated during the shooting of Ram Avtar in 1988, particularly during a scene where Sunny Deol was required to throttle Anil Kapoor. Sunny Deol, known for his intense performances, got carried away and gripped Anil Kapoor’s neck a bit too tightly.
Following the scene, Anil Kapoor reportedly created a stir on set, accusing Sunny Deol of deliberately choking him. This incident marked a significant strain in their relationship. Many believed the two actors would never share screen space again, but filmmaker Rajkumar Kohli managed to bring them together for Intkam. However, their animosity persisted during this project as well.
During the filming of Intkam, another incident added fuel to the fire. IMDb details a scene where Anil Kapoor had to deliver a heated dialogue close to Sunny Deol’s face. In doing so, Kapoor’s spittle accidentally landed on Deol, who repeatedly requested him to adjust his delivery. Despite the complaints, Anil Kapoor continued with the same approach, which enraged Sunny Deol to the point of grabbing Kapoor by the collar. Crew members intervened to separate the two and diffuse the tension.
While the film’s shooting was eventually completed, the damage to their professional relationship was irreversible. Intkam marked their final collaboration, and the two actors never worked together again.
Their feud remains one of Bollywood’s most talked-about on-set conflicts, highlighting how creative differences and personal grievances can impact professional partnerships, even between celebrated stars.
