The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area has witnessed a significant tightening of enforcement against illegal mining and unauthorised construction, with the administration strengthening its surveillance and action framework. As part of this initiative, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority has expanded its security deployment, enhanced mobility and introduced a structured coordination mechanism among departments to curb unlawful activities effectively.
Earlier, 85 retired soldiers had already been deployed across sectors such as 18, 20, 22D, 24, 24A, 22E, 21, 28, 29, 32 and 33 to monitor illegal mining activities. Building on this framework, the authority has now decided to deploy 10 additional retired ganmen and soldiers in sectors 05, 08, 08D, 09 and 11 to ensure intensified vigilance and prompt action against violations.
To facilitate continuous patrolling, one new Bolero vehicle has been added to the existing fleet of four vehicles. These security personnel will remain mobile across the authority’s jurisdiction, maintaining constant watch over illegal mining and unauthorised construction. The objective is to identify violations at an early stage and initiate timely action before they escalate.
The security force has also been entrusted with additional responsibility to monitor illegal construction activities. Under the revised system, daily reports will be submitted by the security teams to the concerned police authorities, as well as to the heads of the project and land record departments. Based on these reports, the concerned revenue officials will initiate legal proceedings and ensure demolition actions in accordance with prescribed rules.
Clear accountability has been fixed for field-level officials, including revenue staff and project engineers, making them responsible for preventing illegal construction within their respective areas. This measure aims to strengthen enforcement and ensure that violations are addressed without delay.
To enhance coordination and real-time information sharing, a dedicated WhatsApp group will be created involving officials from all concerned departments. This digital platform will enable swift communication and facilitate prompt demolition actions once unauthorised construction is detected.
As part of the rollout of this initiative, a review meeting was held on Saturday morning with all retired ganmen and soldiers, during which they were briefed on new directives, reporting protocols and operational responsibilities. Officials emphasised that the initiative is not merely punitive but is intended to ensure planned, lawful and sustainable development across the authority area.
The authority reiterated that illegal mining and construction pose serious risks to the environment, infrastructure and long-term development planning. Through this comprehensive enforcement strategy, the administration aims to deter violations and promote orderly industrial and urban growth within the region.
