Seven people lost their lives after an air ambulance crashed near Simaria in Jharkhand’s Chatra district while en route from Ranchi to Delhi, marking a tragic aviation accident that occurred shortly after takeoff on Monday evening.

Aircraft crashes minutes after takeoff from Ranchi airport

In a devastating incident in Jharkhand, an air ambulance carrying seven people crashed near Simaria in Chatra district shortly after departing from Ranchi airport. The aircraft, operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, had taken off at approximately 7:11 pm and was headed to Delhi when the accident occurred.

According to senior officials, the crash took place within a short time of takeoff, indicating that the aircraft encountered trouble soon after becoming airborne. Emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the crash site following reports of the incident. Local authorities, police personnel, and rescue teams rushed to the area near Simaria to initiate search and recovery operations.

Officials confirmed that all seven individuals on board the air ambulance were killed in the crash. The aircraft was operating as a medical evacuation flight, commonly referred to as an air ambulance, which typically transports critically ill patients along with medical staff and flight crew. However, in this tragic case, there were no survivors.

The wreckage of the aircraft was located in a remote area, and rescue teams worked through challenging conditions to retrieve the bodies. Authorities stated that all seven bodies were recovered from the crash site. The remains were later transported for further formalities, including identification and post-mortem procedures as required under aviation accident protocols.

Preliminary information indicates that the aircraft had departed Ranchi as scheduled and was on course toward Delhi when it went down. The exact cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and aviation authorities are expected to launch a detailed investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident. Such investigations typically examine technical performance, weather conditions, pilot communication, and air traffic control records.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation and other relevant agencies are likely to assess the aircraft’s maintenance history, flight data, and operational procedures followed by the operator. Aviation safety experts note that accidents occurring shortly after takeoff can be particularly critical, as aircraft are still in initial climb phases and have limited margin for corrective action.

Victims identified as crew and medical personnel on board

Authorities have identified all seven individuals who were on board the ill-fated air ambulance. The deceased include Captain Vivek Vikas Bhagat and Captain Savrajdeep Singh, who were operating the aircraft. Also among those killed were Sanjay Kumar, Dr Vikas Kumar Gupta, Sachin Kumar Mishra, Archana Devi, and Dhuru Kumar.

The presence of medical professionals on board underscores the humanitarian nature of air ambulance operations. Such flights are often conducted under urgent conditions to transport patients requiring advanced medical care from one city to another. The loss of both aviation crew and medical personnel has deeply impacted the local community and the broader aviation and healthcare sectors.

Senior officials confirmed that the aircraft was traveling from Ranchi to Delhi at the time of the crash. The route is commonly used for medical transfers, given Delhi’s advanced healthcare infrastructure. The tragic outcome has prompted expressions of grief and condolences from state authorities.

Local administration officials coordinated with aviation authorities to secure the crash site and preserve evidence for investigation. Standard aviation accident protocols require detailed site documentation, debris mapping, and technical examination before conclusions can be drawn about the cause.

The incident has once again highlighted the inherent risks involved in air ambulance operations, which often require rapid deployment and operate under time-sensitive conditions. Aviation authorities are expected to conduct a comprehensive probe to determine whether mechanical failure, technical malfunction, weather factors, or other circumstances contributed to the crash.

As investigations proceed, authorities have assured that all necessary support will be provided to the families of the deceased. The tragic crash near Simaria has cast a pall over Jharkhand, as the state mourns the loss of seven lives in one of the most serious aviation accidents in the region in recent times.
