District Sports Office Gautam Buddh Nagar witnessed an important visit as the Khelo India Wrestling Center operating at Malkpur Sports Stadium was inspected by Shambhu Yadav, Deputy Director of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Delhi. During the inspection, players were informed about various schemes under the Khelo India program and motivated to pursue excellence in sports at the national and international levels.
Addressing the athletes during the visit, the Deputy Director emphasized that every player should set the goal of winning medals at the Olympics. He stated that India can achieve a position among the world’s top 10 sporting nations only when young athletes aim for excellence and prepare themselves with dedication, discipline, and determination.
The inspection included a detailed review of training arrangements, sports infrastructure, and facilities being provided to athletes under the Khelo India scheme. Officials also interacted with players to understand their requirements, challenges, and experiences related to training and coaching.
During the inspection, Deputy Director Shambhu Yadav instructed Anjum Malik, coach of the Khelo India Wrestling Center, to focus on including more young and female athletes in the scheme. He said that identifying sporting talent at an early age is essential for developing high-quality athletes who can represent the country in future international competitions.
Special emphasis was placed on encouraging female participation in sports. Officials stated that talented girls from both rural and urban areas should be provided equal opportunities, proper coaching, and access to sports facilities so they can succeed at national and international levels. The Khelo India scheme is playing an important role in supporting such emerging talent across the country.
Sports experts believe that early-stage training and systematic coaching significantly improve the performance and confidence of young athletes. This is why both central and state governments are now focusing more on grassroots sports development and talent identification programs.
The inspection also included an assessment of sports infrastructure and practice facilities available at the Malkpur Sports Stadium. Officials reviewed training methods and discussed ways to further improve facilities and create a better environment for athletes.
Incharge District Sports Officer Dr. Parvez Ali welcomed the Deputy Director by presenting a bouquet and shawl. He stated that continuous efforts are being made in Gautam Buddh Nagar to promote sports talent and provide better opportunities to young athletes through the Khelo India initiative.
Kabaddi coach Sumit Kumar, basketball coach Vijay, gym coach Shubham Nagar, and office assistant Devendra Kaushik were also present during the inspection. Coaches and officials motivated players to continue working hard with discipline and commitment in order to achieve success in sports.
The Khelo India scheme is considered one of the Government of India’s major initiatives aimed at promoting sports culture and strengthening sports infrastructure across the country. Through this program, talented athletes are identified and provided with training, coaching, competitions, and financial support to prepare them for higher-level competitions.
Experts believe that India’s sports ecosystem is evolving rapidly, with athletes from smaller cities and rural regions increasingly making their mark at national and international levels. Initiatives like Khelo India Centers are helping provide the right guidance and opportunities to emerging players.
The inspection conducted at the Malkpur Sports Stadium is being viewed as an important step toward boosting athlete morale and strengthening sports training systems in Gautam Buddh Nagar. Officials expressed hope that athletes from the district would achieve success at national and international platforms in the coming years.
