North Central Railway, Dadri has permanently closed railway gate number 145/SPL located near Bodaki Railway Station for road traffic. The decision has been implemented after the Road Under Bridge (RUB) became operational and following formal approval from the district administration. Railway officials stated that the move aims to enhance public safety and streamline traffic flow in the area.
According to railway authorities, the gate was situated at kilometer 1410/26–28 and had been used for years by local commuters. However, frequent traffic congestion, delays during train movements, and the risk of accidents made it necessary to introduce a safer and more efficient alternative. The commissioning of the Road Under Bridge has now provided uninterrupted connectivity without interference between rail and road traffic.
Officials emphasized that the permanent closure of the gate will significantly reduce the chances of accidents caused by human error, signal violations, or attempts to cross tracks during train movement. With the RUB in place, pedestrians, daily commuters, schoolchildren, senior citizens, and emergency vehicles will no longer face delays due to closed railway gates.
The railway administration has clarified that the closed gate will not be reopened under any circumstances for vehicular movement. Barricades, warning signage, and directional boards are being installed to guide commuters and prevent unauthorized crossing. Citizens have been advised to strictly use the Road Under Bridge for crossing the railway line.
District and railway authorities described the decision as a crucial safety-oriented measure rather than a routine administrative action. Railway crossings have historically been vulnerable points for accidents, often due to negligence or lack of awareness. Eliminating such crossings wherever alternative infrastructure is available is a key part of long-term safety planning.
Local residents and business owners have welcomed the move, expecting smoother traffic, reduced travel time, and lower fuel consumption. The uninterrupted flow of vehicles is also expected to improve overall productivity in the area. From the railway’s perspective, train operations will become more efficient as well, since delays caused by gate closures will be eliminated.
Officials further indicated that similar decisions may be implemented at other locations where Road Under Bridges or Flyovers are operational. The broader objective is to move towards accident-free railway corridors and safer urban mobility.
Concluding the announcement, authorities urged the public to cooperate with the new arrangement, follow traffic rules, and refrain from attempting to use the closed railway gate. Public awareness and compliance, officials noted, are essential for ensuring safety and maintaining an efficient transportation system.
