Ruksana Bano, a celebrated Sambalpuri singer from Odisha, has passed away at the age of 27 while receiving treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Hospital sources confirmed that she was being treated for Scrub Typhus, but the specific cause of her death, which occurred on Wednesday night, has not yet been disclosed by the hospital authorities.
In a shocking turn of events, Ruksana’s family has alleged that she was poisoned by a rival singer from western Odisha, although they have not revealed the name of the accused. Her mother and sister claim that Ruksana had previously received threats. According to her sister Ruby Bano, Ruksana’s health had begun to decline shortly after she fell ill while shooting in Bolangir, where she consumed a drink that reportedly made her sick. This incident occurred approximately 15 days prior to her death.
Following her initial illness, Ruksana was admitted to a hospital in Bhawanipatna on August 27. Due to her deteriorating condition, she was subsequently transferred to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Bolangir and later moved to a private facility in Bargarh. As her health did not improve, she was finally brought to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for further treatment.
