In an effort to bolster security measures, Parliament staff has been cautioned against engaging in photography and video recording activities inside the Parliament House complex. A circular issued by the acting joint secretary (security) of Parliament House highlighted that despite previous directives, some officials continue to disregard the established security protocols.
The circular, dated January 19, emphasized the heightened security concerns surrounding the Parliament Complex, labeling it as one of the most threatened locations in India. It identifies Cameras, spy cameras, and smartphones as potential threats to the complex’s safety and security while affirming that any form of photography inside the Parliament House Complex is strictly forbidden.
Furthermore, the circular made it explicit that officials and visitors, who are granted access with mobile phones or smartphones, are unequivocally prohibited from capturing photographs within the complex. The overarching objective behind these strict regulations is to prioritize the protection of Parliament, parliamentarians, other dignitaries, and the staff under the purview of Parliament Security Service.
This directive comes in anticipation of the upcoming Budget session of Parliament, scheduled to commence on January 31. It is worth noting that this circular follows an incident from over a month ago when two individuals breached security, gaining access to the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery. They proceeded to release yellow-colored smoke canisters before being subdued by Members of Parliament.
