In a passionate address during the monsoon session of the Lok Sabha, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took a strong stand against opposition parties for questioning the success and outcomes of Operation Sindoor. The operation, launched in the wake of the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people, has become a focal point in Parliament, with the Opposition asking how many Indian assets were lost. Rajnath Singh countered by shifting the emphasis to the achievements of the Indian Armed Forces, stating that the right question should have been about how many enemy assets were neutralized. He assured the House that not a single Indian soldier was harmed in the operation.
Emphasis on the Success of the Operation
Rajnath Singh addressed the House with conviction, expressing disappointment that Opposition members were more focused on Indian losses rather than Indian gains. “Few members of the Opposition have been asking how many of our aircraft were shot down? I feel their question does not adequately represent our national sentiments,” he said. He argued that the narrative should center on the effectiveness and strategic precision displayed by the Indian Armed Forces during Operation Sindoor.
He reiterated that the questions posed by the Opposition could have better reflected national pride and unity. “If they must ask a question, it should be whether India destroyed terrorist bases, and the answer to that is, yes,” he added. Rajnath Singh made it clear that multiple terror hubs were eliminated in the retaliatory strikes, and the objectives of the mission were successfully achieved.
Indian Forces Foiled Every Enemy Plan
Highlighting the effectiveness of India’s defence systems, Rajnath Singh said that counter-drone measures and electronic surveillance played a vital role in neutralizing enemy threats. “Our defence systems, counter drone systems, and electronic equipment completely foiled Pakistan’s attack,” he told the House. He commended the armed forces for ensuring that Pakistan failed to hit any critical target or damage key Indian assets.
Providing more details, Rajnath Singh said the Indian Armed Forces launched coordinated strikes on multiple locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Bases in Chaklala, Sargodha, Rafiqui, Rahim Yaar Khan, Jacobabad and several other locations were strategically targeted. According to the minister, more than 100 terrorists were neutralized during the series of strikes. The final phase of the operation was conducted on May 7, followed by a ceasefire understanding between India and Pakistan on May 10.
Rajnath Singh took pride in announcing that none of the Indian soldiers were harmed during the entire course of Operation Sindoor. “If you have a question to ask, ask this: Were any of our brave soldiers harmed in this operation? The answer is, no,” he said emphatically.
He urged Opposition members to put aside politics when it comes to national security and appreciate the bravery and precision shown by the Indian Armed Forces. “To the Opposition too, at least now, thump your hands to praise the Armed Forces,” Rajnath Singh said, drawing applause from members on the treasury benches.
He reminded the House of the scale and importance of the operation, which came as a response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that left 26 people dead. The operation was meticulously planned and executed with precision to dismantle major terror infrastructure operating from across the border.
The Minister’s comments underlined the importance of national unity and support for the armed forces at times of military operations. His remarks were clearly aimed at reframing the national conversation around Operation Sindoor—from a question of losses to one of decisive action and military success.
