India’s boxing contingent for the Paris Olympics 2024 received a significant boost as Amit Panghal and Jaismine Lamboria clinched qualification spots during the second world qualification tournament in Bangkok.
Amit Panghal, a prominent figure in Indian boxing, secured his place in the Summer Olympic Games after a hard-fought victory in the men’s 51kg quarterfinal bout against China’s Chuang Liu. His 5-0 win not only earned him a Paris ticket but also made him the second male Indian boxer, following in the footsteps of Nishant Dev, to achieve this feat.
Despite trailing 1-4 at the start of the second round, Amit Panghal displayed resilience and determination, staging a remarkable comeback with aggressive boxing. His victory marks a successful return to the national team, reaffirming his status as a top contender in the sport.
In the women’s category, Jaismine Lamboria secured India’s 6th Paris qualification spot by defeating Malian boxer Marine Camara in the 57kg quarterfinals. Lamboria’s achievement adds depth to India’s boxing squad, further strengthening their prospects at the Olympics.
The confirmed boxing squad for India at the Paris Olympics 2024 now includes:
– Nikhat Zareen (Women’s 50kg)
– Preeti Pawar (Women’s 54kg)
– Lovlina Borgohain (Women’s 75kg)
– Nishant Dev (Men’s 71kg)

This success underscores the talent and dedication of India’s boxing contingent as they prepare to compete on the global stage at the Paris Olympics 2024.
