Kathmandu, 12 Sept : Subas Chandra Nemwang, former Chairperson of Nepal’s Constituent Assembly and Vice-president of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist), passed away at 1 am on Tuesday.

His personal secretary Krishna Prasad Kafle confirmed that he died following a massive heart attack

He fell unconscious in the bathroom attached to his bedroom and collapsed. He was immediately taken to a hospital where the doctors declared him dead. His personal secretary Krishna Prasad Kafle confirmed that he died following a massive heart attack.

Prominent leaders including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachand, Nepali Congress President Sherbahadur Deuba, and Nepali Congress Party President K P Sharma Oli rushed to the hospital and consoled the bereaved family. President Ramchandra Poudel condoled his death and paid tributes to him. Former President Vidya Bhandari recalled Nemwang’s contribution in Nepal’s politics.

Nemwang’s mortal remains will be kept in the party office. Nepal Government has decided to perform the last rites with the state honour.
