What is the Executive Programme?
The WIPO-WTO Executive Programme on Intellectual Property Issues for Senior Government Officials is a collaborative initiative designed to enhance national expertise in intellectual property (IP) law and policy matters. It builds upon the successful legacy of the WIPO-WTO Advanced Course on Topical Intellectual Property Issues and offers a multidisciplinary approach to contemporary IP-related policy issues discussed at the international level.
Key themes
Participants will engage in two weeks of intensive learning and knowledge exchange, exploring, among others, the following thematic areas:
- Copyright and related rights in contemporary times
- Intellectual property and technology transfer in action
- Issues at the crossroads of public health, IP and trade
- IP as a catalyst for the digital economy and women’s empowerment

Who should apply?
The Executive Programme is tailored for senior government officials with a strong background in intellectual property matters, including the international legal and policy dimensions. Thirty places are available for suitably qualified candidates selected from technical assistance beneficiaries.
What is the eligibility criteria?
To be considered for possible selection, applicants must:
- be a senior government official responsible for intellectual property and related policy issues in his/her country;
- have completed the WTO on-line e-Training TRIPS course or General Course on Intellectual Property (DL-101) or possess proven commensurate knowledge or professional experience;
- demonstrate an extensive practical background in intellectual property law, policy and practice;
- possess an excellent knowledge of English; and
- be nominated by their government.
