Motorola is gearing up to launch its latest foldable smartphone, the Razr 50, in India on September 9. The announcement follows the earlier introduction of the Razr 50 Ultra and comes as the company prepares to unveil its standard Razr 50 model. Ahead of the official release, the device has already been listed on Amazon, generating considerable buzz among tech enthusiasts.
The Motorola Razr 50 is designed to modernize the classic flip phone concept, featuring a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display. This primary screen is expected to offer HDR10+ support and boast a peak brightness of around 3000 nits, which should enhance visibility even in bright conditions. Additionally, the screen will likely have a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and transitions, with a resolution of 1080 x 2640 pixels that ensures crisp and vibrant visuals at a density of 413 pixels per inch. The cover display, which measures 3.6 inches, is anticipated to include an AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1700 nits. It may also feature Gorilla Glass Victus for added durability.
In terms of build, the Razr 50 is expected to incorporate a combination of materials: a plastic front when unfolded, a glass front when folded, a silicone polymer back, and an aluminum frame with a stainless steel hinge. The device might also have an IPX8 rating for water resistance, potentially surviving submersion in water up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. With a weight of approximately 188.4 grams, the phone will have a slim profile when unfolded, measuring around 7.3 mm in thickness.
Camera capabilities of the Razr 50 are likely to include a dual-camera setup on the rear, featuring a 50MP wide lens with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 13MP ultrawide lens. For selfies, a 32MP front camera may be included, with both front and rear cameras supporting 4K video recording at 30 frames per second. The device is expected to be powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 7300X chipset and run on Android 14. Storage options are projected to include 256GB with 8GB RAM or 512GB with 12GB RAM, and it will likely support a 4200 mAh battery with 30W wired and 15W wireless charging. Connectivity features are anticipated to include Wi-Fi 6e, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC. The Razr 50 may be available in several color options, including Koala Grey, Beach Sand, and Spritz Orange.
The launch date approaches, anticipation builds for what Motorola promises to be a significant addition to the foldable smartphone market.
