Tyla Balmain made a striking debut at the Met Gala 2024, adorned in a Balmain creation symbolizing the “sands of time.” Unlike most celebrities who ascend the Met steps at the event, Tyla opted for a different approach. The Grammy winner’s ensemble, meticulously crafted by Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, featured a strapless beige dress with a circular train and a textured sand finish, custom-fitted to her body.
Rousteing revealed that Tyla Balmain’s dress was molded to her body months before the event, with the intention that it would seamlessly integrate into the museum setting. This bespoke creation perfectly embodied the theme, with its intricate contours and sand-like texture. To complement the concept, Tyla accessorized with a purse shaped like an hourglass, symbolizing the passage of time.
While the ensemble was visually stunning, its delicacy required Tyla to forgo walking up the Met steps. Instead, she was gracefully carried by a group of attendees, ensuring the preservation of the meticulously crafted attire. Tyla completed her look with minimal gold jewelry, a bronze-toned makeup palette, and her short tresses styled in a wavy bob.
