An older video featuring actor Allu Arjun at an event in New York is circulating with a misleading claim suggesting his endorsement of the Congress party during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
The video actually captures Allu Arjun’s participation at the India Day Parade in New York, an event organized by the Indian diaspora, where he was honored with the title of Grand Marshal in 2022.
Previously, similar visuals of Allu Arjun waving at a crowd from the same event were falsely shared, claiming he was campaigning for the Congress party.
In the viral video, Allu Arjun can be heard addressing the crowd, stating, “This is India’s tri-color. It will never bow down.” However, a caption overlay falsely attributes the statement to “Congress Zindabad, Bharat Jodo,” with a Threads user posting the video urging viewers to “Vote for Congress.”
Further investigation confirmed that the visuals match those from the India Day Parade event in 2022, as evidenced by Allu Arjun wearing a stole with the words “Grand Marshal” printed on it. A YouTube video from August 22, 2022, and footage shared on Allu Arjun’s official YouTube channel on August 23, 2022, corroborate the event’s details.
The India Day Parade event was organized by the Federation of Indian Associations to commemorate 75 years of Independent India. The organization, representing the Indian diaspora in the Northeast USA, hosts the parade annually in August, bringing together a large number of participants for cultural celebrations in New York City.
