Lucknow, 06 Sept (HS): Mayawati, the head of the Bahujan Samaj Party, sought the Supreme Court on Wednesday to take suo motu notice of shallow politics being done on ‘Bharat’ and ‘INDIA,’ and demanded a ban on all political organisations constituted in the name of the nation. The Supreme Court should take suo motu cognizance of the shallow politics being done on ‘Bharat’ and ‘INDIA’ and ban all organizations, parties, and alliances formed in the name of the country, Mayawati said at a news conference today. The politician made the comment without saying if she intended a ban on organizations with the words ‘India’ or ‘Bharat’ in their titles.
Bharat, which is India’s constitutional name, is a well-known and dignified constitutional name. The people of our country, of all castes and religions, have enormous love and respect for Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s sacred humanitarian and public welfare Constitution, and it is highly inappropriate to play with their sentiments by changing and tampering with it, she stated.
The truth is that by naming its alliance INDIA, the opposition has given the BJP an opportunity to tamper with the Constitution… as part of a well-planned strategy and conspiracy. Or… all of this could be happening with the ruling party and the opposition working together, the Dalit leader said.
People are aware of the reprehensible game of politics being played before of the general election next year, according to Mayawati. She claims that the more pressing concerns of poverty, inflation, unemployment, and development are being ignored. As a result, it is entirely appropriate and in the public interest for our party to distance itself from both of these casteist, communal, and capitalist alliances, she continued.
A G20 invitation with the words ‘President of Bharat’ that was extensively posted on social media sparked outrage on Tuesday, with the opposition arguing that the move revealed the BJP’s fear of the INDIA bloc. The ruling party said that there was nothing wrong with using Bharat because it is part of the Constitution. The BSP has not joined the NDA or the opposition alliance INDIA. The Dalit-focused party has 10 Lok Sabha MPs and a few MLAs in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttrakhand.
