In a tragic incident in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, a 38-year-old man, identified as Gopal Rathod, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his 32-year-old wife, Bharati Rathod, to death. The police arrested Gopal Rathod on Saturday following a violent altercation that occurred early Friday morning.
According to officials from the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar police commissionerate, the incident took place around 4:30 a.m. Gopal Rathod, who reportedly had a history of alcohol abuse, engaged in a heated argument with his wife. In a fit of rage, he pulled out a knife and fatally attacked her.
Neighbors of the couple were the first to alert the police after hearing the commotion. Upon arrival at the scene, the police found Bharati Rathod’s body and promptly transported it to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination. The authorities launched an investigation into the case and took Gopal Rathod into custody.
The accused has been booked under Section 103 (1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police are continuing their investigation to gather more details about the circumstances leading to the fatal stabbing.
