Google One has officially introduced its new Lite plan in India, offering an affordable upgrade in storage for users. Google One primarily provides additional cloud storage that can be utilized across Gmail, Google Photos, and Google Drive. While users receive 15GB of free storage by default, the subscription service offers various upgrade options, including 100GB, 200GB, and 2TB plans. The latest addition, the Google One Lite plan, now offers 30GB of storage at a competitive price.
Here are the details on the pricing and key features of the new Google One Lite plan, which aims to provide an affordable storage solution for Indian users.
Google One Lite Plan Overview
The Google One Lite plan increases the default 15GB of free storage to 30GB, making it a cost-effective option for users needing more space. However, this plan comes with certain limitations. Unlike the higher-tier Google One plans, the Lite plan does not support storage sharing with up to five additional users. It also lacks additional features, such as access to exclusive tools and services, available in other premium plans.
Moreover, the Lite plan does not include AI features, which are available only in the Premium plan. The Premium plan, priced at Rs 1,950 per month, offers 2TB of cloud storage, advanced AI capabilities powered by Google Gemini, enhanced integration with Google apps, and the Magic Editor feature in Google Photos.
Currently, the Lite plan is being rolled out in phases and is accessible to select users. Google is also offering a one-month free trial for those who wish to try the service before committing to a subscription. A wider release is expected soon, but an official confirmation from Google regarding the nationwide availability is still awaited.
Google One Lite: Pricing Details
The Google One Lite plan is priced at Rs 59 per month, providing 30GB of cloud storage. This plan offers a more affordable alternative to the 100GB plan, which is priced at Rs 118 per month. The Lite plan, therefore, comes at nearly half the price of the next tier. As with other Google One plans, the Lite plan includes a one-month free trial.
Additionally, users can opt for an annual subscription to the Lite plan, available for Rs 589 per year. Media reports suggest that some users may also receive promotional deals, reducing the cost to as low as Rs 15 per month for the first two months.
The introduction of the Google One Lite plan offers Indian users a budget-friendly option to expand their cloud storage, catering to those who need a moderate increase in storage space without the additional features of higher-tier plans.
