Prabhas and director Nag Ashwin’s latest venture, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, continues its phenomenal performance at the global box office. As it completed its 12th day in theatres, the sci-fi epic surged past the impressive milestone of Rs 900 crore worldwide. The film is now poised to cross the coveted Rs 1,000-crore mark, marking a significant achievement in its box office journey.
Confirming the milestone, Vyjayanthi Movies, the production house behind ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, celebrated the film’s success with a special poster, highlighting its unstoppable momentum towards further milestones.
However, the film experienced a notable decline in its domestic collections on July 8. According to early estimates, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ grossed Rs 11.35 crore nett across India on that day, marking a dip compared to its previous day’s earnings. The Hindi version contributed Rs 6.5 crore, while the Telugu version garnered Rs 3.5 crore. The film’s collections from Malayalam, Tamil, and Kannada versions were comparatively lower.
The cumulative 12-day collection for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ in India now stands at Rs 521.4 crore nett. The Telugu version alone amassed Rs 249.05 crore, while the Hindi version garnered a robust Rs 218.9 crore.
‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is set to enjoy a few more days of uninterrupted screening before facing competition from Kamal Haasan’s highly anticipated ‘Indian 2’ (‘Bharateeyudu 2’ in Telugu and ‘Hindustani 2’ in Hindi), scheduled to release on July 12.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ blends science fiction with elements of Indian mythology, boasting a stellar cast including Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Anna Ben, Pasupathi, Disha Patani, Saswata Chatterjee, Shobana, and Brahmanandam. Produced on an ambitious scale by Vyjayanthi Movies, the film premiered in 2D and 3D formats on June 27, captivating audiences with its grandeur and narrative richness.
