In a startling incident of rash driving in Gurugram, an SUV ended up wedged on top of an electric pole after being rear-ended by a speeding sedan on Monday. The dramatic scene drew attention as onlookers captured photos of the stranded vehicle.
The mishap unfolded around 4 pm, captured by surveillance cameras, showing a Honda Amaze crashing into a Mahindra Thar SUV from behind. The impact was severe enough to propel the SUV upwards, causing it to mount the electric pole and become stuck at an angle.
Aanchal Gupta, the driver of the SUV, miraculously escaped unhurt thanks to the assistance of locals who helped her safely dismount from the precarious position. Recounting the incident, Gupta explained that the collision occurred shortly after she left a petrol pump.
“After leaving the petrol pump, as I turned, a white Honda Amaze collided with my vehicle from behind. I swerved to the left to prevent further damage, but my car ended up climbing the electric pole. Locals came to my rescue and helped me climb down, where I jumped from above,” Gupta told India Today.
Eyewitnesses confirmed the chaotic scene, noting the fortunate absence of injuries despite the dramatic crash. “The car took all the impact. Thankfully, no one was hurt,” one witness remarked.
The occupants of the Honda Amaze, two men, fled the scene immediately following the collision, prompting the Gurugram Police to launch an investigation into the incident. Police officials arrived promptly at the site to assess the situation and gather evidence.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of road safety measures in urban areas like Gurugram. Authorities continue to urge caution and responsible driving to prevent such accidents in the future.
